MLCI Director of Education participates in 12th World Lakes Conference.

Global Perspectives Reinforce the Imperative of Lake Stewardship in Maine.
By looking beyond our state’s borders to learn from the succeses and failures of environmental stewardship across the globe, MLCI is hoping to gain wisdom that can be shared here in the Pine Tree State. With this goal in mind, Director of Education Rex Turner traveled to India, where he attended and presented at the 12th World Lakes Conference.

MAINE LAKES' WIND BIRD RECEIVES GOLD FOR ENVIRONMENTAL MESSAGE

First-ever Lake Science Academy a Success!

The Maine Lakes Conservancy Institute (MLCI) held the first Lake Science Academy from July 23 through July 27, 2007 at Camp Kieve’s Kennedy Learning Center in Damariscotta. Fifteen science educators from five Northeast states and two educators from the Archangelsk Region of Russia attended the Lake Science Academy. The week long program gave practicing scientists the chance to raise awareness about threats to lakes. Participants were informed about initiatives and service learning projects that can promote the management of lake resources.
